UPSC IFS Eligibility 2023

The eligibility criteria for UPSC IFS Exam 2023 have pointed out many aspects. Age, Education, Nationality and other things have been provided below.

Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit: The candidate must be 21 years and not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st August 2023. However, candidates in a reserved category may get upper-age relaxation as per the rules.

Educational Qualification: In the educational point, the participant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in at least one of the subjects, namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering from a recognized university.

Number of Attempts: A candidate can appear for the UPSC IFS Exam six times till the age of 32 years. If a candidate has already attempted 6 times, they are not eligible even after fulfilling other criteria.

UPSC IFS Exam Pattern 2023

To crack this competitive exam to be a central government employee in the forest department, the participant should know where the recruitment will be conducted and the educational qualification for these posts. We provide brief information here.

The UPSC IFS Exam 2023 is conducted in three stages:

UPSC IFS Preliminary Exam: The UPSC IFS Preliminary Exam is the first stage of the UPSC IFS Exam. It consists of two papers, named Paper I and Paper II. The duration of each paper is two hours, and the maximum mark for each paper is 200. The standard of the paper is that of a Bachelor’s degree level. The questions in the paper aim to test the candidate’s general awareness and aptitude for the profession of a forest officer.

UPSC IFS Main Exam: The UPSC IFS Main Exam is the second stage of the UPSC IFS Exam. It consists of a written examination and an interview. The written examination consists of nine papers, including two qualifying papers, four papers on General Studies and three papers on optional subjects. The duration of each paper is three hours, and the maximum mark for each paper is 250. The qualifying papers are of only 300 marks, and the candidate has to secure a minimum of 33% marks in each of the qualifying papers.

UPSC IFS Interview Exam: The UPSC IFS Interview Exam is the third and final stage of the UPSC IFS Exam. Candidates who qualify for the UPSC IFS Main Exam will be called the appearing in the interview. The interview is of 275 marks and is designed to assess the candidate’s personal qualities, such as suitability for the service, mental and physical ability and leadership qualities.
